Defiance, the Ed Zwick Holocaust movie, has a new teaser poster out. Plot is described:
Three Jewish brothers (Craig, Schreiber and Bell) escape from Nazi-occupied Poland into the Belarussian forest, where they join Russian resistance fighters and endeavor to build a village in order to protect themselves and others in danger.
Zwick hit and miss with Oscar. Yes for Blood Diamond, to a degree, no for Last Samurai. Holocaust though? Kind of makes it equal, all things considered. And anyway, Zwick is one of those that seems destined to, at some point, win that Oscar for the big war epic.
Daniel Craig. Sigh. If we ever make good on the promise (my own secret promise, never shared with y’all) to do an Oscar Hotties spectacular we’ll be sure to include Craig, along with James McAvoy, Denzel Washington, Leo DiCaprio, Djimon Hounsou, George Clooney, and of course Clive Owen. But we will probably never make good on that promise.
