The Toronto Film Festival has announced part of its line-up. Set to open the festival which begins on September 8 is The Magnificent Seven. Antoine Fuqua directs the Steve McQueen classic, and Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke and Vincent D’Onofrio lead the cast.
Amy Adams will have two films with Nocturnal Animals and Arrival. Nocturnal Animals marks the return of Tom Ford since 2009’s A Single Man. The film is about art gallery owner Susan (Adams) who is sent a manuscript by her ex-husband. The novel is a violent thriller about a family being terrorized, which she interprets as a veiled threat and a tale of revenge.
Also making appearances are; Nate Parker’s The Birth of a Nation which premiered at Sundance, Kenneth Lonergan’s Manchester by the Sea, Jeff Nichols Loving. Isabelle Huppert has three films coming to the fall festival, as well as Damien Chazelle’s La La Land. Rob Reiner’s LBJ, Oliver Stone’s Snowden and Queen of Katwe by Mira Nair will also be screening.
The special presentation films are; The Age of Shadows, All I See Is You, and American Honey.
Closing night film will be The Edge of Seventeen. Hailee Steinfeld and Woody Harrelson star in the coming of age story about Nadine (Steinfeld), who is already at peak awkwardness when her all-star older brother Darian (Blake Jenner) starts dating her best friend Krista (Haley Lu Richardson). The film is the directorial debut of writer-director Kelly Fremon Craig.
